The easiest way to DIY a Halloween costume is to take clothing you already have and just add a pair of ears or horns on top. These DIY Devil Horns are the perfect topper for a sexy red dress. The lace and the addition of a veil sets them apart from all the cookie cutter horns you find in the Halloween shops. Best of all, they only take about 15 minutes to make!
Supplies for Devil Horns with Veil:
Red lace fabric (non stretch) with scallop edge
Headband
Red pipe cleaners
Needle & thread
Twist the end of the pipe cleaner to the top (about 1-2 inches from the middle) of the headband.
Bend the pipe cleaner over and attach to the headband.
Repeat on other side.
Bend into horn shape
Cut a rectangle out of the lace that's a few inches larger than the horn.
Sew the lace on to the horn. Sew over and under the pipe cleaner.
Cut the lace, leaving a 1 inch border on the sides of the horn.
Repeat steps on other horn.
To make the veil, fold the lace in half with the scallop edge at the bottom. Cut a curve shape that is 9 inches high and 6 ½ inches wide at the bottom.
Sew the middle of the veil to the middle of the headband.
Fold the fabric over about an inch and sew to the headband at the top. These folds make the veil lift up so it's not hitting your face directly.
Make 2 more folds (ending at the edge of the horn) sewing in place as you go. Sew the veil to the side of the headband for another inch. Make a knot and cut thread. Do not sew the veil all the way down to the bottom of the headband. It will pull across your face and be too tight.
