What Is a One Square Bunny?
A one square bunny is a clever knitting project where a single knitted square is folded and sewn to create a stuffed bunny shape. After knitting the square, the corners are shaped to form the bunny’s head and ears, while the rest of the fabric becomes the body. This technique is popular with beginners because it requires very simple knitting skills while still creating a cute finished toy.

Yarn: Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick & Quick in Barley for the tail- Lion Brand Homespun in Deco
Needles: Size US 13 knitting needles
Also needed: Yarn needle, Fiber fill stuffing Pom pom maker
Gauge: not necessary for this pattern
Pattern instructions:
Cast on 30 stitches. Work in Stockinette stitch for 30 rows.
The piece should be a perfect square. The easiest way to determine when you have knitted an equally-sided square is to match up your corners.
How to assemble the one square stuffed bunny
Using a yarn needle, make a running stitch through the center of the square. (I used red yarn so the stitches would show up in pictures. You should use the same color yarn as your bunny)
Stitch it up in a triangular shape.
Pull the ends of the yarn on the side to gather. You’ll see the ears and head forming.
Stuff the head with poly-fill and pull the ends of yarn tightly to close.
Make a stitch to secure.
The rest of the square will become the body. Stitch the seam closed.
Stuff the body with fiber fill.
Run a stitch around the opening and pull to close. Knot to secure.
Make the pom pom tail (click here for my Perfect Pom Pom Tutorial) and tie on the back.
