DIY Veiled Cat Ear Headband

September 29, 2015
Halloween is fast approaching and I have a bunch of costume DIYs lined up! This veiled cat headband is a chic alternative to the tradition faux fur ears. Pair it with a black dress for a sexy yet low-maintenance(!) costume.

Satin wrapped headband
Black pipe cleaners
Lace (non-stretch with scallop edge)
Needle & thread

[Twist the end of the pipe cleaner around the middle of the headband]
[Bend the pipe cleaner over and twist the other end on to the headband]
[Repeat on the other side]
[Bend the tips into points]
[Cut a piece of lace a few inches larger than the ear]
[Sew the lace on to the pipe cleaner]
[Trim the lace around the ear, leaving a 1/2 inch border]
[Repeat with the other ear]
[The headband needs to be stretched open to sew the veil on, otherwise the veil will be too tight once it is on your head. Use a bottle that’s approximately 6 inches high]
[Fold the lace in half and cut the veil out with the scallop side down. It should measure 9 inches high and 15 inches wide. Trim the (non- folded corner) into a curve]
[Run the thread through the veil in a loose stitch so you can gather it]
[Pull the thread to gather the lace]
[Stitch the veil on to the headband]

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); = id; p = ‘//’; var cb = new Date().getTime(); p += ‘?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);
