As soon as I saw this Lanvin Ruched Beach Skirt I knew it would be perfect to DIY. Not only is it a great beach cover up, it's really easy to make!
[Tip: When working with swimwear fabric on a sewing machine, it is best to stretch it as you sew]
Supplies:
- Nylon/Spandex swimwear fabric (¾ yard)
- Loop turner

[Cut a section from the top of the fabric that 1" wide and 55" long] |

|
[Fold the fabric in half and sew a line the entire length, creating a tube] |

[Using the loop turner, turn right side out] |
![]() |
[Fold fabric in half width wise. Using your hip measurement as a guide, cut out a square, measuring 19" long] |
![]() |
[Cut approx. 4" of fabric off at the waist, creating a curve from the waist to the hips] |

[Fold the skirt in half- right sides together and sew the seam leaving about an inch on the side] |
![]() |
[Fold the ends of the seams down and sew in place, creating tiny tubes] |
![]() |
[Thread the tube through the loop turner from hem to waistband, hook on the string you made earlier and pull through] |

[Fold the string over and pull through from waistband to hem. Adjust the ruching and tie a bow] |

This looks so pretty! It's raining cats and dogs here but the thought of summer and beach time makes everything a bit better 🙂
What a cute project! I love it so much that I decided to feature it in our roundup of beachy summer crafts! Check it out here: http://www.favecraftsblog.com/link-love-beach-crafts/
Have a great day!
Looks nice. Any suggestions about the most affordable places to buy fabric? Thanks
I usually buy fabric from fabric.com. I think I purchased this fabric from Joann (I can't remember- it was a while ago) They always have 30% coupons. Hope this helps =)
