diy infinity scarf from sweaters

December 11, 2012

This DIY will show you how to make use of the fabric remnants from yesterday’s Swing Skirt tutorial. This cozy infinity (or “circle”) scarf is made by sewing together small section of fabric into a stripe pattern. This is a great sewing project for beginners and the scarves make wonderful gifts!

  • Old, lightweight sweaters. (I used cashmere and wool, but acrylic would work just as well)

[Cut out a piece of fabric that’s 14″ wide. I varied the length of the stripes from 6 to 8″]
[Sew the 2 pieces together a the side]
[Keep sewing the panels together until the pieces measures 72″]
[Fold the scarf in half lengthwise, right sides together. Sew the top closed, creating a tube. Turn the scarf right side out and sew to end closed by hand]

Looks great! I love infinity scarves made from sweaters or regular scarves… so many options! I've never tried colorblock/DIY stripes, though!
