I did a post on how to make a 4 Strand Braid a while ago. Afterwards, I received several requests asking for a 5 Strand Braid tutorial. The 5 strand braid looks complicated but actually it's pretty easy to master. I recommend trying it out on some ribbon or string to get the hang of it first.

[The 5 strands are divided into two groups- a group of 3 and a group of 2. The strands on the left side get worked like a regular 3 strand braid] |

[Begin on the left side as if you were making a regular 3 strand braid. Place the far left strand (pink) over the middle (green)] |

[Place the 3rd strand (yellow) over the 2nd (pink) Now you have 2 strands on the left and 3 on the right] |

[Now, begin working the right side like a regular 3 strand braid. Place the far right strand (red) over the middle (blue)] |

[Then place the red strand under the 3rd (pink). The red strand now gets moved over to the left side where you will begin the regular 3 strand braid again] |

[Keep repeating the steps] |
