If you're tired of the usual ponytail or topknot, this braided bun is a great alternative. To do this hairstyle you need to know how to make a reverse (aka "Dutch") braid. A Dutch braid is similar to a French braid except the strands are crossed under each other, opposed to over. Crossing the strands under raises the braid off your head, whereas crossing them over weaves the braid close to your scalp. If you need to learn how to do a Dutch braid check out my video tutorial.

[Divide your hair into 2 sections. Reverse French braid each side. Don't worry if they're not perfect. This style is suppose to be loose and relaxed] |

[Starting at the bottom, gently pull small sections of the braid loose. Work your way up to the top] |

[Here's a side by side comparison. The right side has been loosened] |

[Loosen the other side] |

[Gather both sides together in a ponytail] |

[Twist remaining hair into a bun and pin in place] |
