DIY Malachite Flower Pots

August 18, 2015
I love the look of Malachite, but the real thing can be pricey. The look can be easily re-created using a paint/glaze mixture and a fan brush. Read below to find out how!

Terracotta Flower pot
Fan brush
Acrylic paint (emerald green, dark green, and black)

[Using the regular paintbrush, paint your pot emerald green]
[Give it a few coats, letting it dry between each coat]
[Make a mixture that’s approximately 3/4 glaze and 1/4 dark green paint. Add a small drop of black paint to darken it up slightly. You want the mixture to be thin, but not runny. Wet the fan brush and then dab it in the paint- make sure the brush is coated thinly with paint. Work in free form “wave” motions to create the Malachite]
[Work your shapes close to each other, but try not to overlap them too much. This will blend them together too much and you won’t be able to see the swirls]
[Try to work quickly so the paint doesn’t dry before you’ve finished the whole pot]

!function(doc,s,id){ var e, p; if(!doc.getElementById(id)) { e = doc.createElement(s); = id; p = ‘//’; var cb = new Date().getTime(); p += ‘?cb=’ + cb; e.src = p; doc.body.appendChild(e); } if(typeof window.ss_shopsense === ‘object’){ if(doc.readyState === ‘complete’){ window.ss_shopsense.init(); } } }(document, ‘script’, ‘shopsensewidget-script’);
