DIY Faux Zinc Finish

February 21, 2015

I love the look of Zinc, but the real thing can be rather pricey. Luckily, there’s an easy way to achieve the same effect! I chose to do the faux finish on a flower pot but you can apply it to anything from end tables to candlestick holders.

Supplies:
Terra cotta flower pot
Flat black spray paint
Martha Stewart Metallic craft paint in Titanium
Chip brush

[Spray paint the terra cotta pot. You’ll probably need 2 coats to cover. Let dry in between coats]
[Brush a thin coat of the Titanium paint on to the brush]

[Brush the paint on in short strokes, using a crosshatch motion. The paint dries fast so work in small areas]

[Repeat until the whole pot is painted. Make sure to keep the paint thin enough so that the spray paint is still slightly visible]
