Ribbed Unisex Cowl [knitting pattern]

September 2, 2014

I’m sad to see the summer go, but I’m looking forward to the cooler, autumn weather. Layers and cozy knits are my favorite way to dress! I wanted to create a really simple, unisex cowl pattern that any beginner knitter could made.

Pattern
Yarn- 1 skein (100g) Cascade Yarn Heathers 220 in Navy (Peruvian Highland Wool)
Needles- US size 8 (this could be knit with circular needles as well)
Cast on 90 stitches. First row- K3, P3 until end. Second row- P3, K3 until end. Work in ribbing pattern until piece measures 10 inches. Bind off and sew the side seam closed.

If done on circular needles does the pattern change?

If done in the round there should be no need of the second row, you would simply repeat the first row! Brilliant pattern, I just love it.

I'm doing this on a circular needle in the round and I'm finding that I just have to repeat row 1 to achieve the same pattern as in the picture but no seam to sew later. This is great! thank you so much.
