DIY Textured leather clutch

September 17, 2014
This textured detailing looks complicated but it’s actually pretty easy to make. I love the way it transforms a basic clutch!

Supplies

  • Leather (2 different colors)
  • 7 inch metal zipper
[Cut 3 rectangles out of the leather that measure 8 inches wide and 9 inches high]
[Cut the contrasting leather into strips that measure 1/4 inches wide]
[Sew the strips on to the leather. Line them up close together and only sew down the top of the strip]
[Sew down the leather strips at the sides and down the middle]
[Flip the leather over and sew down the middle of the 2 sections. This will create the textured effect]
[Sew the zipper on]
[Sew the side and bottom seams together. Trim any excess leather. Turn inside out]
