halloween costume inspiration

[Beetlejuice is one of the best movies ever! I love the idea of doing a sexy take on the grotesque main character. Finishing touches- frizzy hair, white face makeup and dark shadow all around the eyes]

[Orange is the New Black was one of the standout shows this season- and with good reason! Piper Chapman’s look is easy to re-create with orange scrubs and black hiking boots. Finishing touch- spell out “CHAPMAN” on the back of the shirt using black vinyl letters from the hardware store. Bonus points- get a friend to dress up as ex-girlfriend and fellow inmate, Alex (the scrubs pictured below also come in khaki)]

[Channel your over-the-top glam side and dress up as Daisy Buchanan from the Great Gatsby this year. Fringe and beaded dresses exemplify the 1920’s flapper look. Finishing touches- a bob wig and lots of jewelry]

[Freddy Krueger- Put on this stripe dress and fedora to mimic the villain from Elm Street. Finishing touches- the infamous glove]

[Looking for a funny costume rather than a sexy one? Ace Ventura is the way to go! Finishing touches- lots of hair gel, a clip-on “Pet Detective” badge and a stuffed parrot on your shoulder]

[Dressing up as everyone’s favorite sullen teenager, Daria, is easy. All you need is a black mini skirt, yellow tee, green jacket and big combat boots. Don’t forget the circular glasses and perma-scowl!]

[Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction is a classic costume that’s easy to re-create and instantly recognizable. Purchase a white button down at a thrift store and smear it with fake blood. Glue a plastic syringe to your chest for added authenticity]
