diy inspiration from the runway (spring 2014)

September 29, 2013
[Left– Céline showed bold brushstroke print patterns. Replicate this look using a men’s white undershirt and black fabric paint. Place a piece of cardboard inside the shirt, then use a paint brush to apply the color. Right– Tassels were everywhere at Marc Jacobs (and on many other runways for spring). Incorporate this trend into your wardrobe by sewing tassel trim on the cuffs of a jacket]
[RED Valentino’s ballerina meets fairy theme for spring was so pretty! Embellish the collar on a basic coat by sewing floral-shaped gems on it (left). Another simple way to replicate the collection is to sew a tulle bow on the shoulder of a basic long sleeve shirt (right)]
[Left– Sew star shaped patch on a basic white tunic or mini dress to re-create this look seen at Marc by Marc Jacobs. Right– Patches were big at Christian Dior. Designer Raf Simons attached them to everything from sweaters to ball gowns. Ebay and Etsy have tons of great vintage patches. Add a few to a plain sweater to give it a preppy look]
