diy suede fringe scarf

September 4, 2012

I wanted to try a different take on the traditional scarf (and use up some of my suede scraps at the same time!) so I came up with this idea. I knitted the scarf using worsted weight wool and No. 8 needles.
The pattern is as follows: Cast on 40 stitches. Knit in rib pattern (Knit 2, Purl 2) for the entire scarf. Length is 60 inches.

[Cut 3 stands of yarn 11 inches long. Fold in half and use a crochet hook to pull through the bottom stitch at the edge]
[Takes the ends of the yarn and pull through the loop. Repeat with the rest of the stitches on the bottom]
[Loop a piece of suede 8 inches long through the top of the stitch]
[Cross the suede pieces over each other in an “X” form]
[Tie a double knot at the bottom. Repeat for each knotted fringe]
